Director of Valuations Alan manages and supervises a team of 13 valuers tasked with valuing all types and classes of real estate – residential, industrial and commercial – throughout the regions of greater Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Wellington and Christchurch.
Alan’s 25-years experience in the valuation industry is supplemented by his experience as a Quantity Surveyor, and he originally obtained a High National Diploma for Building Surveying (QS) in 1987. He then spent several years working for the Public Works Department in South Africa, responsible for the Northern Natal Region’s government buildings, ranging from army bases to magistrates courts. In this role he was involved with building specifications and bills of quantity for renovations and new builds, which has given Alan a hands-on appreciation for quality control and on-site construction methods.
Alan then spent several years working for two of the top 5 banks in South Africa, the Standard Bank and First National Bank, as a Senior Valuer, undertaking valuations and new build quality control, where he inspected and valued a range of residential, rural or lifestyle, and commercial properties. Alan then took this knowledge and formed his own valuations company between 2000-2002.
Alan then immigrated to New Zealand in 2002 and joined the team at Prendos, and in 2010 became a Director. Although primarily a residential valuer, he gets involved with all types of property valuations across the board, whether completing them himself or through his capacity as a Director overseeing valuations for quality and content and providing advice and guidance.
Alan is a self-confessed workaholic, however is his sparse downtime he enjoys taking in all that New Zealand has to offer, and loves now calling NZ home.
